With his independent debut The Outer Marker
in 2002, Just Jack pioneered a breakthrough Brit-Hop style alongside contemporary Mike Skinner of The Streets.
He created a warm, laid-back sound with a dark undertone, marrying melodic choruses and witty, conversational lyrics to funky home-made cut ‘n’ paste beats.
His 2007 major label debut Overtones
went top ten in the UK charts, and spawned the breakaway worldwide smash ‘Starz In Their Eyes’ – a funny, caustic yet compassionate take on the twenty-first century fame factory. It was, to say the least, an ironic hit with which to be catapulted into household fame.
The follow-up album All Night Cinema
was released in 2009 and spawned two more hit singles with ‘Embers’ and ‘The Day I Died’.
